| The Basics |
Character Name: Pansy Parkinson PB: Morgane at dnamodels Age: 19 Birthday: October 11th 1980 Wand: Mahoghany, 10", pliable, with unicorn tail-hair core House in School: Slytherin Bloodline: Pureblood Political View: Pansy isn't entirely sure that she has a political viewpoint. She didn't actively participate in the war on either side, although her choice of friends does perhaps make her look suspicious. She just isn't a very politically minded person; she tends to see things only in relation to how they will affect her, and her closest friends. She holds some prejudices but they are watered down versions of the Death Eater rhetoric. She doesn't think Muggleborns and Purebloods are equal, but neither does she believe that all Muggleborns deserve to die. She found the war years diffcult, as she permenantly tried to balance between two extremes. She didn't want to permenantly defect to the side of Light and lose her childhood friends and perhaps her parents, but neither did she want to swear herself over to the Dark Lord. She does sometimes think that the fact that she made it out alive at all suggests a certain amount of subtelty and courage under fire and that surprises her. |
| Appearance |
Height: 5'5" Weight: 110 lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown, straight and short. Build: Slender but not skinny. Rounded edges rather than jutting bone. Dress Style: Pansy is not as girly-girly as she used to be, but she does still have an unfortunate penchant for flowery fabrics and pink. However her close association in recent years with more upper class families has led her increasingly towards a collection of "classic" pieces, which she can update with accessories. Defining Marks: A brown birth mark above and to the right of her navel. A tatoo on her left forearm of "Parkinson" in Old English. Considered a rather tasteless act by some on both sides, it is perhaps Pansy's most blatant political act to date. |
| Personality |
Strengths She's independent, and not easily swayed by the opinions of others. She's very loyal to people she considers worthy of loyalty (it's a short list but she doesn't do loyalty by halves). She's careful, and she thinks things through before acting. Weaknesses Incredibly egotistical, Pansy doesn't take interogatory questions well. She can be short with people she likes, so with people she doesn't like she's often down-right rude and she doesn't care. She bears grudges for an incredible amount of time, and no affront to her goes unavenged, even if it might take years to achieve. Quirks Pansy has a very sarcastic sense of humour, which often takes people by surprise and they don't quite know what to say back. Sometimes Pansy enjoys saying the exact opposite of what people expect her to say, just to watch the reactions. Pansy is a huge fan of inventive swearing. General Outlook on Life Pansy has always wanted to make a good marriage and have lots of good, pure-blooded children and that hasn't changed. But instead of that being the be-all and end-all of her life, now it's been pushed to the back of her mind a little bit. Having made it through the war years - as she sees it - largely on her own merits, Pansy now thinks she wants to do something for herself rather than for other people. Quite what that *something* is, Pansy isn't sure, but she knows it will be fun and she's looking forward to finding out what it is. |
| Psychology |
Extrovert/Introvert:Pansy knows what it is to have to play your cards close to your chest. She's extroverted by nature, and introverted by necessity. Boggart Would Be: Pansy isn't sure what her Boggart is. When she faced one in third year it took the form of herself as a sad old spinster with cats, but she'd like to think she's grown up a lot since then, and she knows that matrimony isn't the be-all and end-all it once seemed to be. If she thinks about her Boggart at all, which is doubtful (what use is dwelling on it anyway?) she suspects it would be something to do with being completely alone and isolated. But she's not sure how a Boggart would represent that. Patronus Would Be: Pansy has produced a Patronus on two separate occasions in her life. Her Patronus is a mink. She likes to think this is because of her innate classiness and high quality; in reality, it's more likely because mink can be vicious little buggers if anything stands in their way. |
| Sexuality |
As far as Pansy's concerned, she's straight. She was brought up to think that her ultimate goal is to marry well, and that rather requires her to think of herself as heterosexual. She has experimented in her time, but she still considers herself as definitely batting for the straight team. |
| Lifestyle |
Occupation: None Residence: Pansy owns a flat on Salford Quays, Manchester. Financial Status: Very wealthy. As the heir to the fortune of the Parkinson cotton magnates, Pansy is certainly not without funds. |
| Family |
Parents: Both living, suspected Death Eaters. Siblings: None The Parkinsons aspire to the upper classes, and they've come achingly close. The final step is to marry their daughter into the upper echelons of society, and this is what they have trained her to want. The Parkinsons are also unknown entities. Most of the side of Light would swear blind that they are Death Eaters; many DEs would too. However, the Parkinsons have never been explicit in their loyalties and this may well be their saving grace. Even their daughter doesn't know what they really think about the events, and about the end of the war, although she suspects they might have been more deeply involved with the Dark Lord than they would like people to think. |
| History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time |
When Pansy heard that Draco had fled Hogwarts, she felt bereft. Without knowing what she was doing, she began to mourn him that day. Pansy had always relied on Draco a lot, and she trusted him. She'd known he was keeping things from her, but that was fine; she didn't tell Draco everything either. The summer after sixth year, Pansy spent in her parents' house, patiently ignoring any invitations that winged their way through her window. It was a dangerous tactic; it was unusual for Pansy to turn down any request for company and fairly soon Pansy had to shake herself out of her doldrums and wake up to the fact that she was in danger. Seventh year was one of subterfuge, lies and double-bluffing. Pansy had no way of knowing who in her house had sworn their lives over to untrustworthy keepers and who had not. Privately she thought them no Slytherins; how was it in their best interests to give themselves over to him? Publically, she kept schtum. She had no way of knowing if any of them could be trusted, even her oldest friends. Her lack of interest in the DEs did not turn the house against her, as she had feared. By no means were the DEs in the majority in Slytherin, and their philosophy seemed to be, "If you stay out of our way, we'll stay out of yours." It suited Pansy down to a tee. After school, Pansy headed back to her parents' house, but quickly found it stifling. The ill-concealed hints of her mother about marriage and her comments about "that wretched Malfoy boy" tore on Pansy's last nerve and she managed to persuade her father to buy her a flat in an up-and-coming area of Greater Manchester. From there she could apparate out to see her friends, or to go shopping, without having to worry about a curfew. As the war escalated, though, it became less and less safe to leave her flat and her friends and acquaitances were less and less willing to see her. They had showed their hands while Pansy still refused to come clean; this made them wary of her, and they resented her for staying out of the fighting. Everyone could see that it was a win-win situation for Pansy: Potter wins, and Pansy hasn't done anything; the Dark Lord wins, and Pansy's a pure-blooded Slytherin so she'll be fine. As fewer and fewer smiles were sent her way, Pansy retreated into her flat and for the final few months of fighting, rarely left it. If there's one thing Pansy isn't looking forward to above all else, it's seeing her peers again; the ones who were out fighting for what they believed in, while she was holed up indoors waiting it out. She doesn't think they'll see her actions in a very positive light. |
